| Research Topics | We seek to improve the process-based understanding of carbon dynamics in terrestrial ecosystems by investigating carbon flux and pool. By demonstrating such the parameters and its relationship with various environmental factors, we can not only estimate carbon sink ability with high accuracy, but also demonstrate feature of each ecosystem. Current projects include: • Response of alpine grassland carbon dynamics to recent environmental changes • Relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning in high-diversity Tibetan grassland ecosystem • Island ecosystem restoration focused on decomposition process after the 2000 year eruption on Miyake-jima Island, Japan • Re-evaluation of carbon sink ability of old-growth forest ecosystems |
