Job Opening for Editorial Staff

The University of Tsukuba invites applications for a temporary editorial staff (native English speaker) at the Environmental Diplomatic Leader (EDL) education program office. As this office functions as a primary international liaison for the master’s program in environmental sciences and the doctoral program in environmental studies, this is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced technical assistant to enhance our on-going commitment to socially accountable international cooperation for environmental problem mitigation. 1. Position
English editorial staff, Office of the EDL Program (1 person)

2. Duties
Editing and proofing English documents.

3. Qualifications
Outstanding English editorial and proof reading skills;
Bachelor’s degree from English-speaking countries;
Basic or advanced skill and knowledge for using computer software (e.g, Microsoft Office);
An applicant must have valid visa to work in Japan. (Those applicants from overseas must have a valid work visa at the time of the entry to Japan.)

4. Selection Process
Screening of application documents, followed by interview.

5. Application Process
Applicants must submit the following documents by mail or e-mail:
(1) Curriculum Vitae in English,
including the current photo of the applicant, work experience, and contact information (e.g., e-mail address)

(2) In mailing your application, please write “Application for EDL editorial staff” in red letters on the envelope. In emailing your application, please write "Application for EDL editorial staff” at the subject area. Please note that these documents will not be returned.

(3) Hearing will be performed for those who pass the documents examination.

6. Deadline
Monday May 30, 2011

7. Work Conditions and Related Regulations
- Temporary worker work hours (9:00 to 17:00, Mon to Fri; this time schedule isnegotiable);
- Paid on an hourly basis, subject to the stipulation of the university (in the range of 820~1,130 per hour);
- Commuting allowance and social insurance;
- Paid Leave for vacation, personal or sick days;

8. Commencement Date
July 1st, 2011 (expected).

9. Term of Contract
The contract for this position ends at the end of the fiscal year (March 31, 2012). However the position may be renewable annually until March 31, 2014, depending on the circumstances and the employee’s achievements.
