EDL Education Program organized the 4th EDL Domestic Internship. Twelve
EDL candidates and three faculty members participated and visited
Nagasaki, Isahaya, Kumamoto and Minamata from July 7 to July 10. The
main focus of the internship was about the economic growth and
environment in Japan.
Regarding Isahaya reclamation projects and Minamata disease, we
have visited several different group stakeholders and learned
complexities of conflicting perspectives. These visits gave us
opportunities to realize difficulties of negotiation, and also reminded
us of importance of reducing barriers to solve environmental problems.
These experiences became fruitful for those who aspire for
environment diplomatic leaders.
In this internship, students from 6 countries such as Japan,
China, Vietnam, Laos, Latvia and Eritrea participated and exchanged
their opinions focusing on the same issues even though each student has
different backgrounds, values, and way of thinking.
