This year, the Environmental Diplomatic Leader Education Program of the University of Tsukuba entered the third year of its five year program. During the mid program appraisal by MEXT on January 27, 2012 this program received a ‘S’ (program exceeded original expectations) evaluation. We greatly appreciate the commitment, efforts and enthusiasm of all professors, lecturers, staff, students and anyone contributing to the EDL program which led to this favourable outcome. Future efforts will focus on the further development of the EDL program in order to provide a more meaningful experience for students.
The ‘Evaluation Summary’ indicates that the original expectations for this project and its current progress are going according to plan, particularly in regard to the training of students, research initiatives and the development of overseas linkages. Recommendations by students to improve project content were implemented with a positive and pro-active attitude. All students receive a ‘Certificate of Completion’ and supplementary materials such as an official synopsis statement of their participation and achievements in the EDL program. This training contributes to the development of high quality international leaders with an extensive professional background and outlook. In the future we look forward to the further development of their career paths.
