Prof. Shunji Matsuoka, Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies, Waseda University gave a lecture at the 16th EDL Seminar.
The lecture, titled Global Sustainability and International Environmental Cooperation, reconsidered dynamic mechanisms of socio-eocnomic and environmental aspects of sustainability based on the institutional approach, and introduced a concept of social capacity for environmental management which focuses on the importance of capacity and interactive efforts of three social actors of governments, firms and citizens. Professor Matsuoka also talked about uniqueness and potential challenges of Japanese environmental ODA and discussed future visions for environmental governance in Asia.
