On October 28, 2011, the 14th EDL Seminar was held at the University of Tsukuba and we invited Dr. Kiyoko Ikegami, the director of Tokyo office, UNFPA (United Nations Fund Population), as a lecturer.
She gave a lecture entitled "Population and the Environment - A Growing Problem in a Shrinking World". Dr. Ikegami threw many questions related to world population issues at the students and we had an interactive discussion all through the lecture. The students had valuable opportunities to state their own opinions based on their own countries and backgrounds.
She gave us a message at the end of the lecture, "Before science and technology advancement can save the world, we
can change ourselves, and that can change the world as well ".
