On October 1, 2011, Dr. Endo attended a meeting of Japanese Association on Geographical Space (100 years of Asian Mega-city: Urbanization and Environmental Changes) at JICA Research Institute, Tokyo. He gave a presentation on the land subsidence problem in Asian big cities. He pointed out the problem had been taking place repeatedly in different cities and explained how the problem had been mitigated in Bangkok and Osaka.
