Internship

The Master’s program in Environmental Sciences and the doctoral program in Sustainable Environmental Studies, in which the EDL program is housed, have offered various internship/ practicum courses both in Japan and overseas in order to foster practical skills. In Japan, students have conducted field studies at Ashio (pollution and copper mining history), the University Forest Reserve at Ikawa (ecology), Urabandai (biodiversity), Lake Kasumigaura (water quality), and Mt. Tsukuba (climate and mountain ecology), among several other places. As of the 2009 academic year, international internships have been offered to observe and engage in various surveys in China, Indonesia, and Bhutan. In 2012, the EDL program will add more locations and institutions for internships/ practicums in Japan.
